The HDSA Center of Excellence program is the cornerstone of HDSA’s commitment to care. HDSA Centers of Excellence provide comprehensive multidisciplinary clinical services to families affected by Huntington’s disease (HD). Services are centered around regularly scheduled HD clinic days at which an individual’s HD care needs are defined, assessed and addressed. These services include, but are not limited to, neurology, psychology, genetic counseling/testing, social services, ancillary therapies (OT, PT, and speech) and HD clinical trials.
The goal of the HDSA Center of Excellence program is to increase access to the best possible clinical care and services for persons affected by HD and their families through a geographically diverse network of medical and social services. Since 2015, the HDSA Center of Excellence program has more than doubled from 20 sites to 43 today. This expansion has been critical to provide essential HD services in many underserved areas of the country.
HDSA is now soliciting Letters of Interest from HD clinics that would like to be considered for HDSA Center of Excellence designation in 2019. Any clinic or neurology service in the United States may apply as long as they meet the minimum service criteria. These criteria and other details about the HDSA Center of Excellence Program can be found here. To complete the online Letter of Interest, go to www.hdsa.org/19COELOI.
The deadline for submitting a Letter of Interest is September 14, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. EDT. After review, those who meet the minimum requirements will be invited to submit a full application. Applications will be due November 30, 2018.
Please feel free to share this information with any and all outstanding HD clinics in your area that are not currently HDSA Centers of Excellence. Please contact Dr. George Yohrling, Senior Director of Mission and Scientific Affairs at gyohrling@hdsa.org if you have any questions.
