Social Media and Sharing Genetic Testing Results

Kaitlyn Riley is a 2nd year Genetic Counseling graduate student at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond VA.

She is studying the use of social media (or lack thereof) of people who have received positive genetic test results for different conditions (including HD). The research is important because there has been a drastic increase in the use of both social media and genetic testing. Some people share information about their genetic test results on social media, and some people do not use it. She wishes to learn which groups of people would benefit from social media use, and which groups of people might not. This would help us support our families in the way that is most beneficial for them.
